The first screen after connecting Square asks what you want to migrate. It's a real choice with a real save step - not a default that quietly starts everything at once. It's worth knowing exactly what this choice does and doesn't lock down before you rely on it.
The screen's own heading is "What do you want to migrate?", with the description: "Pick everything you'd like to bring over from Square - this choice drives your whole dashboard, and you can always change it later from Settings."
The four choices
- Product Catalog
Your full catalog - titles, variants, images, pricing, inventory, and product category/type.
- Customers
Contacts, addresses, and marketing consent.
- Gift Cards
Active balances and codes, ready to redeem.
- Product URL Redirects
Old Square product links, mapped forward automatically. (This is the screen's real label - it's specifically product redirects, not a general URL redirect tool.)
These are clickable cards, not checkboxes
Each option is a click-to-select icon card rather than a plain checkbox - selecting one marks it with a colored check indicator. Nothing saves until you click Confirm and Continue - and you can change the selection anytime later from Settings > What You're Migrating.
It organizes your dashboard - it isn't an access lock
An unselected type disappears from your dashboard's checklist row entirely, and its dashboard card shows "Excluded - choose in Settings" instead of a working link. But that page itself isn't actually locked: opening its URL directly still gets you the full page, fully able to run a real migration, even for a data type you never selected here. Treat this choice as "what shows up on my dashboard," not as a permission boundary.
Changing your mind later
- Settings → What You're Migrating?
The same choice reappears in Settings, described there as "Choose which data types show up on your dashboard checklist." Update your selection and click Save Selection.
- A type you've already migrated can't be deselected
Once a data type has a completed migration, its card in Settings is locked (checked and disabled, with a short note), so your checklist always reflects what you've migrated. Only that card locks - the other types stay editable, and a type that is currently running or scheduled stays locked until it finishes. No job, product, customer, or gift card is ever touched by this choice, only your dashboard's own display.
Locked while something's actively running
You can't change this selection at all while any of your data types has a migration currently running, paused, queued, or scheduled - saving is rejected outright with "A migration or scheduled run is currently active for one of your data types, so your selection can't be changed right now. Try again once it finishes."

Every one of the four runs on its own schedule, whenever you're ready for it.
